Welcome to my website

About me

I have done a variety of things in my time. I spent my youth working with horses on a Farm and Racing stables,  I’ve managed a Poultry Farm, a Campsite in the Channel Islands, and I taught Judo in Prep Schools.

I have always had a great interest in sport. Riding, Hockey, Badminton, Rally Driving, Judo, Windsurfing, Sailing, Parachuting & Golf to name a few. My number one sport however was Judo – 1964 -2004.

I’m an 8th Dan and a former England and British International Player & Team Captain of both England and G.B. Women’s Judo Teams, and a Medallist in most Judo Tournaments, throughout Europe from 1972 – 87.

I also attained my Judo Senior Coach, Senior Examiner, Referee and Tournament Controller qualifications at Area, National and International levels. When I retired from competition I wanted to stay close to sport, so I trained in various massage therapies First as an Aromatherapist, then later in 1988 in Sports and Remedial massage.

In 1995 I became a Tutor for the S.E.E.D. Institute, ( Remedial Massage, Aromatherapy and Anatomy & Physiology).

I travelled to Uganda with The Aids Support Organisation (T.A.S.O.). This organisation funded the training of Ugandan Nurses and Counsellor’s in Aromatherapy. It helped set up treatment centres in 7 different towns, for local Ugandans suffering from AIDS and HIV to receive free treatments and care.

My Bowen story

Since Bowen had done so much for me, I decided to learn more about it, and so the story continues;

1989 to the present time, I have managed my own very successful Clinic in Farnborough, Hampshire and my Practice is now purely Bowen

How strangely the world turns, I have taken an extremely varied and often colourful route through life, I feel that somehow, I have come full circle, back to doing something very close to my teenage dreams.

Life is for living, take every opportunity that comes along, you never know what is around the corner, which is what makes living so much fun. Bowen I am sure, will go on changing many lives throughout the world, and I am proud to be part of this truly wonderful therapy.

Bowen courses

The seven module course in The Bowen Technique is primarily a hands-on course. It consists of many hours of practical training to ensure accuracy and understanding of what you’re doing.

The comprehensive 3 Part training manual comprises photographs and drawings so you can easily locate the precise position of each Bowen ’move’. Additionally there are explanatory notes for each procedure as well as guidance on how to prepare the client prior to treatment, post-treatment advice and any contra-indications to treatment. There is also a fast reference guide and glossary of terms used.

Note: This instruction manual is based upon the original notes and drawings made by Oswald Rentsch, when working in the clinic of Tom Bowen.

Each of the seven modules is run over 2 days and these are usually on a weekend.
Module 1 - Getting started.
Module 2 - Gaining confidence.
Module 3 - Back to the classroom.
Module 4 - Progress & Practice.
Module 5 - Emotional moves.
Module 6 - Almost there.
Module 6a - Fine tuning.
Module 7 - The big day.

I run courses in small groups giving full attention to all students from the confident fast learner to the quieter slower pace ones.

I look forward to seeing you on a course soon.
